Mather Architects has strong ties to the community and is committed to giving back to help make the community stronger.  While every one of the members of the Mather Architect team gives back to the community individually, as a firm, we have been fortunate to be able to partner with local organizations and donate our services to help them better serve the community.

Cub Run Elementary School

If you’ve been to Cub Run Elementary school, you may have seen the Discovery Outdoor Classroom.  This was a vision the school had to create a unique learning space outside.  Mather donated services to Cub Run Elementary School to help them envision and create an Outdoor Classroom. Working with the Challenge Teacher, Mrs. Soltis, and using an existing courtyard, the space now contains a “Birds Nest” teaching area, flowers, bushes, sod, seating, stamped concrete, and a 3-D Street Art painting for the students to enjoy. We wanted the space to be flexible and thought-provoking!

Montevideo Middle School

Montevideo Middle school raised money to update their auditorium.  Mather was able to donate services to help them visualize and create a beautiful space and a redesigned stage area. Montevideo Middle School wanted a space that would serve the school and its many uses for an auditorium but also wanted an inviting space that could be put to use for the community as a whole.

Mission Central

The most recent project we helped with is the United Methodist Church Mission Central Children’s Clothes Closet and Medical Equipment for Caring Loaner Closet located at 1712 Smithland Rd in Harrisonburg.  We were pleased to be able to help ensure their new building was up to code, safe and accessible for everyone.  Mission Central helped hundreds of families and children in 2018 and their new facility will help them continue to serve those in need and do great work in our community.
